Committee
Chair Report
September 16, 2004
Hello Troop Adults!
As I write this, my pack is almost ready for this weekend's
backpack to Goat Creek. This will be Stephen and my fourth trip
on this trail and is one of our favorites. One of our life
scouts, CJ will be presenting the concept of Leave No Trace to
the group. We hope to have some scouts develop a plan to earn
the Leave No Trace Award. There is the probability that Mr.
Vermillion and I will introduce Wilderness Survival merit badge.
We will see just how much gets accomplished.
At our September 21st meeting, we will be showing the film A
Time to Tell. This is the 30 minute film that is the youth
protection film intended for our scouts to view.
At the September 29th meeting, we will have Adult Youth
Protection training. If you are not able to make this, training
can also be done online. Youth protection will also be offered
at the November 11th Roundtable.
Speaking of training - October 23rd is our district's Super
Saturday of Training. It begins at 8 AM with New Leaders
Essential and continues with Boy Scout Leader Training. The
overnight training is scheduled for November 5&6 at
Scouter's Mt. Also offered on the 23rd is Troop Committee
Challenge, Safety Afloat/Safe Swim and Youth Protection.
We need trained leaders, and trust me, being trained makes
the experience superior.
There will also be a Merit Badge Counselor Training session
scheduled for a troop meeting - soon.
The promised revision of Troop Policy is in the works. I hop
to have some drafts ready at the September 21st meeting. If not
by Tuesday, then for the Monday, September 27th Committee
meeting. You are all members of the committee, so please come to
the meeting. It starts at 7 PM at the Lohkamp's.
We are off to a great year!
