Committee
Chair Report
May 16, 2005
Hi!
It must be that time - again. Yes, the
Troop Committee Meeting is Monday, May 23rd at the
Lohkamp's home. The meeting begins at 7pm. The scouts had
their planning session a week ago. We will take a first look at a
2005-06 calendar. There are bound to be changes, but by approving
the boy's outing choices, we can secure our choice of dates and
locations.
There is a fund-raising committee meeting this
Thursday, May 19th at the Lohkamp's. This meeting will be to start
organizing the fund-raising events for next year. If you have
ideas, I suggest you attend, or give Carmen a call.
We have two
service projects happening this Saturday, May 21st. One is the
first phase of JW's Eagle Service Project, and the other is
putting plants into the ground at a senior care center. Please
encourage your scout to participate on one of these projects. The
gardening project would also be appropriate for families. Various
amounts of service are needed for rank advancement and a service
project counts as a troop activity for the TTFC Scouts!
Thursday, may 26th is Flag Placement at Willamette National
Cemetery. Those of you that have participated in this event know
what a special privilege and honor we have in the Thunderbird
District. I encourage all of you to attend.
The last calendar
item I want to remind you of is the last troop meeting on June
14th. This is Court of Honor and mandatory summer camp meeting.
Training: Youth Protection Training will happen at the June 9th
Roundtable. I want to offer Troop Committee Challenge training to
those of you who are registered committee members and are not
trained. We need to come up with a three hour block to accomplish
this. I am taking suggestions.
See you on Monday.
M
