Committee
Chair Report
June 17, 2005
School's out. Let the fun begin!
I hope those who are going on this weekend's campout have a
great time. My Scout will be at Sogus and our SPL will be at horse
trek. In July we have a couple Scouts attending Polaris.
Before we get too scattered by summer fun and vacations, I want
every adult to know how much I value each and every one of the
contributions you make to keep our program safe, engaging, and
exciting. We may have a boy led troop, but that only works if we
have adult mentors to oversee the process.
The next troop committee meeting will be on Monday,
June 27th, at the Alwert home. Besides the normal agenda
items, we need to finalize the calendar along with a couple New
Business items. The meeting begins at 7 PM. Please come. We
don't have a committee meeting in July.
The July (9-10) outing is a family camp at Wild Waves. Frank
Villa is the adult in charge. The sign up deadline was June 7th.
If you are signed up for this outing - whether you go or not - you
will have financial obligations.
We have five Scouts from our troop going with our council's
contingent to 2005 Jamboree. They will be gone from July 20/21 to
August 4/5. I know they are going to have a once in a lifetime
experience.
Summer Camp: Please have your Scout get his merit badge class
choices to me by June 26th (or at committee!). It takes quite a
bit of time to get some 100 plus blue cards ready to go. If your
scout has questions about what is appropriate for him to sign up
for - please have him call me. Pack check is August 4th at the
Vermillion's. We leave for camp the morning of August 7th.
I have a request. The troop worked hard to earn the Good Turn
for America patch and segment for 2004 that were handed out in
February. Unless your Scout has another temporary patch that they
are very fond of positioned above the BSA strip, I would really
like to see the Good Turn for America patch on a majority of our
class A uniforms at camp. We are on track to earn the 2005 segment
to add to our uniform.
See you on the 27th.
