Committee
Chair Report
August 20, 2005
Greetings!
By now I hope you've heard all the tales from Camp Baldwin. I
want to thank you for intrusting your Scout into y and others
keeping. All in all it was a fabulous week. I want to thank Clark
for taking the older boys on the rafting and the board sailing
adventure. Mike, Jim and Roger kept the TFC scouts headed mostly
in the right direction. Brian was the chief cook for the adults
and kept watch at our camp site. The boys really came through with
advancement with 72 merit badges and 5 rank advancements at camp.
Scouts also earned merit badges at rover camp and at Jamboree.
With the scouts staying on task, I was able to spend the necessary
time on the rifle range to become a NRA certified rifle
instructor. This will enable the troop to take advantage of rifle,
BB and archery ranges on our camp outs. My thanks to all of you.
Our next committee meeting is August 29th, beginning at 78
PM, at the Vermillion home. The major piece of business to
accomplish is the approval of this year's budget.
On the flip side of this letter, you will see a list of merit
badges with no or only one counselor in the troop. Please consider
becoming a merit badge counselor. We will setup training during a
troop meeting this fall. Counselors (and all adults with direct
Scout contact) also need current Youth Protection training.
Training will be offered at the District level this fall. Training
is also available on-line. More on this later.
Can't wait for Fall! See you at committee on the 29th.
