Committee
Chair ReportJanuary 15, 2006
January......and we
are off! The next six weeks will be busy. Crew 542 has had their
first meeting and has plans for their first two activities. If
you have or know of a 14-20 year old who might be interested in
this program, ask Clark, Bob or myself about it.
A large group is headed up to winter lodge on January 27-28.
I think we might have enough snow this year. Be sure your scout
comes well prepared. At the January 31st activity night, we will
be earning the Traffic Safety Merit Badge. This is part of the
BSA Ready and Prepared program. As we try to finish this up, I
want to remind all registered adults to be sure that they have
their Youth Protection up to date. Please confirm with me that
this has been done.
The council is in the process of hiring staff for summer
camp. Applications are available online. Interviews will be on
February 4th. Applications for Polaris and Sogus will start to
be accepted in February.
Scout Sunday is February 5th. The Troop will be participating
at the morning service at our Charter Organization, Lynchwood
Church of God. Please plan to attend with your family. The
congregation appreciates our attendance at this service.
Our February outing will be at a new venue for us: Camp
Dakota. My understanding is that the youth will be sleeping in
Teepees. Our only cost will be for food, as we will be doing a
service project in exchange for our lodging.
February 25th is Advancement Extravaganza and Red and Green.
Red and Green is the big Court of Honor of the year. We hope to
greet several new scouts and their families to the troop. Plans
are underway.
Monday, January 23rd is Committee Meeting at the home of
the Vermillion's. We start at 8PM. Please come.
