Committee
Chair ReportSeptember 17, 2006
Greetings!
School is back in full swing and so is the troop program. This
past weekend was the Meriwether/golf campout. My family when
down Saturday AM for the golf and had a great time. I can't wait
to hear how the rest of the weekend went.
The October outing is Webelos Woods. It is being held at
Butte Creek and Troop 542 is one of six units that will be
hosting an activity. Early registration gives us the best price
and FREE tee shirts. I would encourage your Scout to commit to
going - soon. The cooking will be backpacking style. This will
give the boys a chance to start getting prepared for our 26
miler coming up this summer.
Webelos Woods gives the troop a chance to show our stuff to
potential crossover Webelos. The troop will have a
representative at the Centennial grade school curriculum nights
to talk to 6th grade boys who may have never been in the
program. If you know of a 6th, 7th, or maybe even 8th grade boy
who is interested in joining Scouts, we are having an Open House
at the October 3rd meeting for boys and their parents to come
check us out. We will also be having our Pack Visits later in
October. There are flyers available with the Open House
information.
Fundraising: The Popcorn sale has begun. We are doing Take
Orders & Deliver. Apple and Pear sales will begin on September
26th. Information is available at the front table or in the
boy's mailbox.
The September 25th Committee Meeting will be held at
the home of Mike & Koni Cash. The meeting begins at 7PM. All
Troop adults are welcome to attend.
