Bowline On A Bight Knot

Uses: The Bowline on a Bight makes a secure loop in the middle of a piece of rope. It does not slip or bind. It is satisfying to start with a plain length of rope and finish with a secure safe loop in its middle.

Efficiency: 60-75%

Instructions: 1) In the middle of a piece of rope, form a bight. 2) Use the bight to form a small loop or eye. 3) Pass the bight through the eye just formed. 4) Spread the bight out and pass it down, round, and over the whole knot until the bight encircles the origin of the bight. 5) Tighten the bight to complete the Bowline on a Bight.

Notes: It can be used to make a secure foothold in the middle of a piece of rope. Because two loops are created it has been claimed that it makes an emergency bosun's chair which is more comfortable than a single loop.
