Double Sheet Bend

Uses: This knot (bend) is used to tie a small pliable rope to a large stiff rope or to a slippery rope.

Instructions: 1) Form an "open" bight with the large rope. 2) Tie the small rope around the bight. To prevent the bight in the large rope from slipping, two or more turns are made around the bight in the large rope. 3) Tuck the running end of the small rope under the standing part. 4) Pull the knot (bend) tight.

Notes: When the larger rope is stiff, make extra turns with the smaller rope to hold the bight in place.
