Surgeon Knot

Uses: This is a variation of the Square Knot in which an extra turn is taken at the start to help prevent the knot from tending to loosen while being completed. Used by surgeons for tying a ligature and to tie two ropes (can be of different sizes) together.

Instructions: 1) Start with a standard square knot (tie a left-handed overhand knot and then a right-handed overhand knot or vice versa). 2) Then add two extra loops around the second side. 3) Pull the knot tight.
