What a GREAT summer I have had so far. I went
rafting on the Deschutes River with the high Adventure Boys! We
sure had a great time. Check out the pictures on the Troop 542
web site. I sure hop you have had a great summer. One full of
memories and great experiences.

With this letter are some important papers for
you and your parents. Please review and keep for the coming
scout year.
First, there is a permission slip for our
first outing of the 04/05 year. We are going on a hike, up the
Salmon River to a really nice campground. The only way to get
there is to hike, not very far, about 2 miles and it takes an
hour or so to get there. It is mostly flat and has a cool river
next to us for the weekend. A great hike for first timers. Some
of the things you will need for this outing are: a way to purify
water (boil, filter, tablets). Bring your own food and a way to
prepare it and haul all of your trash back out. We will set up
camp in the "Leave No Trace" style. There are no
toilets here so bring your own paper and a small light trowel
for your business. If you have any questions call me or one of
the assistants.
Second is a troop roster. Keep it, use it, and
do not loose it! If your information is wrong, contact me or
leave a message.
Third is the Troop 542 04/05 calendar for you
to plan and know what is going to happen this year. Remember to
look for changes on the monthly newsletter at the troop
meetings. Your youth leaders have planned some great outings for
the up coming year. I sure hop to see a record number of
attendees at these.
This year we have changed the calendar to full
months of scout meetings. That means every Tuesday you have
school, we have scouts. Patrol Leaders council will be held on a
different night. Check your calendar.
Adults PLEASE attend on of the many Boy Scout
Training opportunities within our district or any of the
neighboring districts that fit your calendar the best. WE owe
the youth the best experiences possible and through training
that will happen.
I look forward to working with each and every
one of you this year. Get ready for a great year full of
scouting.
