Nanitch 2005
Nanitch is a country lodge nestled in the woods just above
Government Camp. The lodge sleeps about 70 people, has one large
common room for dining and playing games, an industrial kitchen,
four rooms with bunks to house the guests, two bathrooms, and a
drying room that is kept hot to help dry out those wet clothes.
Because of the Northwest's unseasonably warm weather this
year the snow level has been around 10,000 feet, thus no snow at
the Nanitch lodge at approximately the 4,000 foot level. Clark and
Daniel verified the lack of snow the week before by flying over
the lodge, the tubing run was bare! Because of the councils no
refund policy on the lodge, we had to go, snow or no snow. So we
went...
To our delightful surprise...it was snowing at the lodge
when we arrived. In fact it had been snowing all night and we had
4 to 6 inches of fresh snow. Everyone had a blast in the snow and
several "Trail to First Class" scouts advanced to a new rank.
Congratulations Bobby, Ian, and Mack.
