Red Cross Shelter Exercise

Come one, come all, and come quick to the American Red Cross Emergency Shelter Exercise. The call went out that the Red Cross will set-up, open and run a shelter at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Gresham. Thirty Troop 542 scouts and parents migrated to the shelter location Friday April 22nd, 2005 for dinner, an evening of games and entertainment, a good nights sleep, and a hot breakfast Saturday morning.

Some of our "displaced victims" (Troop 542 volunteers) received "rolls" to play during the shelter exercise to give the Red Cross Volunteers a chance to deal with difficult people and situations. It was a blast!

The Red Cross disaster services equipment van.

The shelter exercise took place at St. Henry's Catholic Church.

Snack time...some of Troop 542 scouts talk with one of the Red Cross Volunteers.

During some of the down time, Dillon and Daniel find a way to pass the time.

Shortly after CJ arrived at the exercise he was give a "role" to play for the duration of his stay. From the responses of some of the other participants, CJ doesn't need acting lessons.

Dinner time...pot roast, baked potato, salad, a drink, and dessert.

A little entertainment to pass the time.

Cots, cots everywhere and not a place to step. It sure was better than sleeping on the floor.

Randy, do you always sleep with your phone?

The Red Cross thought of everything...

Boys will be boys...

Finally, it's bed time.

That was fun, let's do it again!
