2005 Memorial Day Flag Placement

This year marks the 37th Annual Memorial Day Observance held at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland Oregon. Each year Troop 542, along with other troops from the Thunderbird District, place a flag at each grave stone in the entire cemetery. This event is an important and meaningful way for Troop 542 to serve its community.

The memorial service has started and you can see the boy scout color guard in the distance.
Troop 542 remembering the fallen hero's of our country...

Some of the members of Troop 542 have relatives buried here at the Willamette National Cemetery.
Preston, as he stands proud with the American flag.

The flag placement has begun.
Every grave stone in the entire cemetery receives a flag.

Every fallen hero has his or her name read aloud.
Every remembered person receives a salute of respect.

Each and every fallen hero is remembered.
Today is a day for us, the living, to strive more diligently to preserve the honor and respect paid to the memory of our Veterans resting here, these brave defenders of the Flag of the United States and the principles for which they fought.

It is my pleasure to present to you Troop 542's 2005 Honor Guard.

God Bless America.
