Winter Lodge 2006

This year our winter trip took us to BSA's Aubrey Watzek Lodge (formerly White River Lodge) on the slopes of Mt. Hood. As some of you might remember, last year we barely had enough snow to play in. That was not the case this year.

This is the great room of the lodge where we 23 of our scouts joined 117 other scouts and scouters to play games and warm up by the fire.

This is how the dorm room looked only 5 minutes after arrival. Let me tell you it did not improve much over the course of our stay.

C.J. pretending to be introspective.

Jack after playing out in the snow for a few hours.

Those that didn't want to play in the snow had lots of time to play games by the fire.

Russell helping out with breakfast.

Steven making a batch of strawberry smoothies. This is true camping...

Mr. Bradford and Blaine patiently waiting for breakfast.

Aubrey Watzek lodge in a snow storm.

Snow...snow everywhere and about 4 feet deep.

The tubing hill, what fun!

A wide angle view of the area surrounding the lodge. It was an awesome site.

Bryan getting ready to pack out his gear and head for home with his magical hat and scarf.

During our 17 hour stay on the mountain it snowed over 12" bringing the total depth in the area to over 5'!

Thanks for a great trip Troop 542!
