Camporee 2006

Camporee 2006 was held at Martha Creek Field a few miles north of Carson Washington. The weekend started out very wet but the clouds cleared out by 10:00am Saturday and we had a beautiful warm spring day for all of the activities.

The first look at our campsite for the weekend...and it's raining...

Jack and Bobby setting up a tent in a downpour. Wasn't that fun!

After everyone had a good night's sleep we woke up to reveille and hungry stomachs.  This year the scouts chose to camp backpack style which means that each scout is responsible for his own food.

Opening Ceremonies...let the games begin.

The Jolt Patrol (from the left Jack, Mack, and Tyler)

The Jolt's at the Fire Building Competition. In this competition the scouts had to make tinder and kindling, start a roaring fire and finally boil 1 cup of water. It was hard if they didn't know the best way to build a fire.

Here they are at the Remote Stacking event. The idea is to stack the buckets without touching them in the fastest time.

The Black Ravens Patrol (from the left Justin, Matt, Teddy, and Nollen)

The Black Ravens at the First Aid competition. Did they save their victim?

Here they are at the Remote Stacking event.

Everyone knows that it's important to get your rest between events, right?

The Pointy Objects Patrol (from the left Steven, Bobby, Bryan, Josh, and Dillon)

The Giant Clove Hitch event. The object was to tie a clove hitch around the pole without letting go of your rope.

At the Fire Building event.

This was the Chariot Race. In this event the scouts had to lash poles to the chariot to make a handle. Then they had to pull the chariot with a rider over a course and return back to the start. This was a timed event.

The Hooters Patrol (from the left Alex, Adam, Daniel, and David)

Congratulations to the Hooter Patrol for earning 3rd Top Patrol in the advanced patrol division.

Great Job!

The Troop's Gateway. Thanks to all those who helped in it's construction.

The Trebuchet Competition. There were many varieties of trebuchets with one launching the tennis ball over 288 feet! That's increadible.

This is Troop 542's entry into the Trebuchet Event.

The scouts get some down time after a long day of activities.

A couple of scouts enjoying each others company at the end of a long day of work.

The Tee Pee that is used for the OA Call Out ceremony.

At the end of the day, just as the sun goes down, we gather at the Tee Pee for the OA Ceremony.

Congratulations CJ and Dillon on your nomination to the Order of the Arrow!

In this picture Dale is taking the London Broil off of the grill getting ready for dinner.

The Adults sure did eat well...a BIG "Thank You" to Dale, our camp cook.
